Meetings on Productivity in Academic Production

The first of the "Productivity in Academic Output" meetings, led by our Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Yunus Gökmen, focused on the processes involved in producing international academic publications. The session covered a wide range of topics, including journal selection, the peer-review process, systematic methods for literature reviews, citation strategies, the use of graphical abstracts, data sharing, and the management of revisions requested by reviewers. By addressing the current dynamics of academic production, the meeting provided a productive environment for participants to exchange knowledge and experience.

The second session of the "Productivity in Academic Production" meetings, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Romya Bilgin from the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, focused on the use of artificial intelligence as a tool to assist with literature reviews during the creation of academic content. The meeting covered topics such as contextual searching using various AI models, the visualization of citation and keyword networks, the assessment of source reliability, and the implementation of more systematic literature review processes. By exploring the contributions of various digital tools to research practices, the session provided a comprehensive framework for new methods and approaches in academic work.

In the final session of the "Productivity in Academic Output" meetings for this term—led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lutz Peschke from the Department of Communication and Design—key topics concerning the Horizon Europe research and innovation ecosystem were discussed. The meeting covered the general structure of Horizon Europe, as well as how the interplay between science, technology, and the market influences research and project development processes. Potential project opportunities across various thematic areas—such as cultural creativity, civil security, the environment, and migration—were evaluated. Other highlights of the session included the development of research ideas, the formation of suitable partnerships, and the structuring of the application process.
