Media Meetings: Yıldız Yazıcıoğlu 2025

As part of the Media Meetings events, experienced parliamentary and diplomatic correspondent Yıldız Yazıcıoğlu visited our Faculty. Sharing her knowledge and experience in journalism with students, Yazıcıoğlu emphasized that asking questions in journalism is not limited to personal curiosity, but is essentially a fundamental responsibility that serves the public interest.

In her speech, Yazıcıoğlu pointed out that persistently asking “why” in response to every event and situation encountered in journalism practice strengthens the ethical and critical aspects of the profession. She illustrated the decisive role of observations made in the field in the news production process with examples.

Yazıcıoğlu sincerely answered questions from students during the event and made important assessments on topics such as what journalists should pay attention to during street interviews, ethical boundaries, communication with sources, and responsibility to the public.

The meeting provided students with an opportunity to get a close look at the practical aspects of the profession, while also creating a thought-provoking discussion environment on the social function of journalism. At the end of the event, our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. G. Senem Gençtürk Hızal and our Radio, Television, and Cinema Department faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Beste Nigar Erdem presented a certificate of appreciation to Yıldız Yazıcıoğlu.
