Field research and shootings were carried out in Boğatepe, Kars within the framework of the scientific research project "A Communication Strategy in a Local Development Model: Ecomuseum", carried out by Başkent University Faculty of Communication and supported by the GSTMF Film Design Department.
Under the direction of Başkent University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Özcan Yağcı, Assoc. Dr. Senem Gençtürk Hızal, Assoc. Dr. Nihan Gider Işıkman, Assoc. Dr. Pelin Aytemiz, Assitant Prof. Dr. Gizem Akgülgil Mutlu and Assitant Prof. Dr. Semih Delil within the scope of the project, in which its members worked as a researcher; A preliminary research and preparation study was carried out in Kars, Boğatepe, Susuz region from the 4th to 7th of July 2019 following the literature review and preliminary-training studies.
12 person consisting of 6 faculty members, 4 undergraduate and 2 graduate students, conducted a ten day field study in Kars-Boğatepe between the 14th and 24th of July 2019. In-depth interviews were conducted with 39 resource people, and these interviews were recorded with video and audio in order to prepare for broadcast of different media in different formats. In the study, conservation of biological and cultural diversity in Boğatepe after the year 2000, local seed reproduction, botanical-ethnobotanical studies, collection, drying and use of edible aromatic and medicinal plants, capacity building training and seminars, gender-equal activities, food culture in rural life, traditional food, production, solidarity tourism was main headings that were recorded and a practice in local development was made visible through the testimonies of different actors. The research team, during their stay in Boğatepe, gave trainings in order to make the study participatory and to ensure its sustainability.
Members met with the participants of the region with the trainings they gave under the titles of, Başkent University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Özcan Yağcı “Tourism as a Public Industry”, Assoc. Dr. Nihan Gider Işıkman and Assitant Prof. Dr. Gizem Akgülgil Mutlu “Smart Phone Shooting and Image-Sound Processing”, Assitant Prof. Dr. Semih Delil “Accurate and Effective Social Media Management”. In addition, a movie was screened for village children and their families in the Boğatepe village meeting room.
